Hi all,
still here ploding away at my minnie. i've been busy making some of the smaller parts to try to get ready for a steam test. All parts are as per the book and I encountered no problems. I have changed the damper slightly in that I've done away with all the bending on the rod as shown in the book and soldered a small rod on the door with a extentsion to go direct to the hornplate using a straight rod and fitted two small caps the the end od the hinge.
I've been looking at the standoff's for the water gauge and would value your opinions. If i double up from the drawing they become 3/4" thick ::This seems to me to be way too much. What would you suggest ?
If you are talking about the top and bottom fittings then doubling it all up will be a bit much. I'd go with 6mm glass and proportion everything to suit that, so 1/2" or 9/16" at the flange where they screw in, depending on what size thread you went with in the boiler as you want some area for a flat copper washer.
that would make more sense instead of a big chunk sticking out of the backhead. I think this is the first part Ive come across where doubling up look completely out of proportion.
