I've used this technique with extreme macro photography, see below for a sample of a rusty head of a slot headed screw.

There are several free or open-source software solutions, the one I've used is CombineZP http://www.hadleyweb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/

As I recall that one is made up of 14-17 frames

Following along quietly here Brian (until now) Nice design.

Quote from: Brian RupnowThe cylinder is pretty simple. The slots which create the fins are the scary part. I know my small mill does a great job cutting .094" wide x 3/8" deep in aluminum. Probably it wouldn't grunt at cast iron. Steel though---Ah, Jeez, I'm not sure about that.

A slitting saw would work easily in cast iron, just take it easy on the feed.

Quote from: JoI still feel one of the failings of the education system was that they never taught us how to wire a three pin plug

Isn't it "Green to Brown, Brown to Blue, Blue to bits!!"  :zap:

Quote from: JoDon't forget that without suitable qualifications in the UK you are not allowed to put a 13A plug on the end of a 240V mains lead  ;).

Thankfully Part P regs only apply to England and Wales, Bonny Scotland and good old N.Ireland can still fry themselves as they/we please  :zap:

    EDIT:

Good Progress there Jo, I have to admit I'd love to have a larger lathe, but then I'd need a larger mill to match, and then I'd need a larger workshop Etc etc etc
