I haven't been very active on the forum of late; work life got seriously in the way of hobby time for the last 6 months, and things are not letting up.  Not all bad though; at least I'm fortunate enough to really like my job and the challenges getting thrown my way  :) - said with a nod of the head to Zee who appears to be in a similar position.

My dad (swarfmaker) forwarded this link on - and it might be of interest.

Any aspiring engine builder out there without a workshop and with some paper, glue and a hobby knife ?

Admittedly, a cobbled-together CNC laser engraver/cutter built from old CD/DVD drives and an Arduino or Raspberry Pi might help  :LittleDevil:

Kind regards, Arnold

Arnold,

Good to hear from you again.  I was concerned.  Visions of Namibian pukwudgies getting you or Shrek turning feral and puncturing a vein.

Re the paper engine... Amazing!  How the devil did he do the crank?  With the skills the maker has, I can't wait until he discovers metal.

Paper, cut to specific profiles and stacked layer upon layer was the first means of 3D printing after all. Seems everything old is new again, or are we just getting old!!  :-\

Hi Arnold

Its good to hear from you   I know what you mean about having little time for the hobby, I'm in the same boat at the moment.

Great little engine, too small for my digits though

Cheers

Rich
