The black frame truly does look like it's been 'cast' - very nice. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of the pointy bit!  ;D

Thats great! Looks and runs excellently.
Maybe make one with the spokes in the shape of fan blades, it would be an air powered desk fan!

Thanks. I used the black VHT Wrinkle paint again and it wrinkled just right. I was tempted to call it the Scorpion, as the flywheel looks a bit like the arching claws, cylinder the body and it has a sting in the tail.

Chris you are not the first to say it would make a desk/executive toy, just need to find people with a compressor under their desk

When I saw the still from the video it looked as if the whole thing was pointing downwards and combined with the large flywheel I imagined it would have a gyroscopic movement (bonkers I know!). That's a pretty nifty design anyway and beautifully finished as always.

Pedal powered compressor, you could sell it as an alternative to a standing desk.

I was wondering if that was wrinkle paint. Do you find its kind of hit & miss wrinkling results wise? I bought a can for some tooling objects just as general rust prevention on non-machined surfaces, but is wrinkled in some area & kind of blah in another. I also tried 'hammered' paint of a different brand. Seems like they need enough coating to do their thing but too light a coat like one would mist on regular TremClad or RustOleum & it doesnt wrinkle as well. Too much & its obviously can be a mess. Also, after a full cure I wasnt enamoured by how it stuck either. i could gouge it off with my fingernal even though the steel surface was prepped clean & suffficient tooth. Primer would probably help with adhesion but I didnt want to introduce yet another variable adversely affecting wrinkle. Seems to me there is a tougher 'engine' (rattle can) paint that does this texture - is that maybe what VHT (very High Temp) stands for?

Yes VHT is the maker, they are best known for their Very High Temperature engine paints and it is their black "Wrinkle Plus" finish.

You do have to be a bit carfull putting it on, the instructions say 3 coats in opposite directions which is not so easy on parts like this. I find just going onto bare metal works better than using primer. You can use a heat gun to help it wrinkle and then bake it if it is likely to be exposed to heat ( I didn't)
