The Gearless Hit and Miss is complete!
This has been a very fun engine project - and one of my fastest!
About 9 months to complete - a lot faster than when I was working.
    Retirement is great.
    Thanks for following along.

The Hit and Miss mechanism is complete!
I have spent the last few weeks working on this. I think it came out well.
Now on to the carburetor, fuel tank, exhaust, and the ignition system - hopefully it will be a runner soon!

Isn't it cool that we run them long enough to wear them out!

I have been working on the gearless valve mechanism for quite a while.
It's a very interesting mechanism - kudos to Phillip Duclos for the design!
It's working well so far when turning by hand - I hope it works when it's under power!

    Looks good!
It's amazing how well some of the parts hold up. I have been running my Upshur Farm Engine all day at the shows and a lot at home for almost 30 years with lots of the original parts!
I have replaced the piston and cylinder several times due to compression loss and experimenting with different types of rings. I have been using O-Rings for the last few years and they hold up pretty well (and I can change them in a couple of minutes!) The big end of the rod has been rebored a couple of times when the clacking gets too loud :) Other than that everything else is original. I did have the exhaust valve stick in the guide at the last show a couple of weeks ago, but a quick disassembly and carbon cleaning fixed it.
